De moderne ploeg heeft scharen die zowel diep als ondiep kunnen werken en voorscharen die oogstresten goed onderwerken. Verstellingen vanuit de cabine verhoogt de capaciteit. GPS ondersteuning, onland ploegen en stoppel ploegen zijn nu volop verkrijgbaar.<\/p>\n<p>Een veelvoorkomend probleem bij het ploegen is het cre\u00ebren van een ploegzool, een verdichte laag die kan ontstaan onder de ploegschaar. Als er een zaaimachine zoals de Rapid of de Spirit wordt gebruikt, kunnen het aantal grondbewerkingen geminimaliseerd worden tot \u00e9\u00e9n of twee bewerkingen, of zelfs volledig worden weggelaten.<\/p>\n<p>Op kleigronden laat de ploeg echter een oppervlakte achter dat meer bewerking nodig heeft voordat het geschikt is om te zaaien. In het verleden, werden cultivatoren, rotorkopeggen en egalisatoren veel gebruikt tot er een zaaibed ontstond. Tegenwoordig worden schijveneggen zoals Carriers veel gebruikt om het aantal bewerkingen te verminderen. Dit kan lijden tot een slechte opkomst als er geen regen valt na het zaaien.<\/p>\n<p>Veel regen na het zaaien kan ook voor problemen zorgen, doordat de stro arme bodem een dikke korst kan vormen. Bovendien kan hevige regenval en wind voor bodem erosie zorgen. De intensief bewerkte bodem heeft als gevolg ook een verminderd aantal regenwormen.<\/p>\n<p>Met uitzondering van de gebieden waar korstvorming, droogte en erosie cruciale factoren zijn, is de primaire drijvende kracht achter het minder ploegen, het economische belang. Hoewel de ploeg zelf niet het duurste apparaat is, zorgt zijn beperkte capaciteit ervoor dat de kosten per hectare nogal hoog zijn. Het verschil zit in de cultivatie technieken die het mogelijk maken om mechanisch de niet productieve koolzaadplanten en onkruiden te bestrijden en te zaaien in \u00e9\u00e9n werkgang. De ontbinding van gewasresten gaat langzamer en er is op een probleem zoals slakken.<\/p>\n<p>Zaaien met een grond bewerkende zaaimachine wordt nauwelijks gebruikt als enige systeem gebruikt, op
